Change Up logo ChangeUp plan for support services in Brighton and Hove:  an invitation to comment by 25 November, 2005

You may be aware that a lot of work has been going on this year preparing a plan to improve the support for Brighton and Hove voluntary and community groups – this is part of a government funded initiative called “ChangeUp” and is being led in Brighton and Hove by a Consortium of support organisations.   A draft plan has now been prepared and we are inviting you to tell us what you think of it and why could the plan be important to you and your organisation.  The draft can be seen at www.cvsectorforum.org.uk/infrastructure/index.asp.

As one of the estimated 1,400 to 1,500 voluntary and community organisations in Brighton and Hove, you may need different kinds of support at different times, depending on what your organisation is trying to achieve.  For example, if you are trying to reach more clients or service users you may need support with marketing and publicity, or if you are trying to diversify and grow, you may need help with preparing some kind of plan which you can use to make your case to potential donors.   If you are just starting out, you may want to find out how best to run a committee or Board meeting, how to prepare accounts or how to employ a member of staff for the first time.

How has the draft plan been prepared?

Consultation along with analysis and discussion on local needs have enabled the Consortium to prepare this plan known as the draft “Local Infrastructure Development Plan” (LIDP). This draft plan proposes the types of support, which organisations like yours may need, and ways of delivering this support. This plan will affect what kind of help is funded and made available in future, as well as how this help is provided.

We would really like/appreciate your comments on this draft plan so that we can make sure that together we develop the right support for your organisation and others like it.
